KURUPT FM

Created by Allan Mustafa and Hugo Chegwin — with assistance from Steve Stamp and Asim Chaudry — Kurupt FM is a fictional U.K. garage collective and pirate radio station central to the BBC sitcom/mockumentary People Just Do Nothing. The show first aired in 2012 and went on to rack up five series, before the crew made their film debut in 2021’s People Just Do Nothing: Big in Japan.

DAVID RODIGAN

DJ David Rodigan may look like a stockbroker or an insurance salesman but he’s a reggae superstar, both in his homeland of England and in Jamaica. After hearing Millie Small‘s massive ska hit “My Boy Lollipop,” Rodigan fell in love with every shade of Jamaican music. He became a DJ at the age of 15, but toyed with the idea of becoming an actor before Radio London gave him a shot in 1978. He’s been on the air ever since, spending over a decade at Capital Radio before moving to Kiss FM. Through the years he’s collected a massive amount of dubplates made exclusively for his Rodigan Sound System. He’s clashed with every sound system of note — Stove Love, Kilimanjaro, and Bodyguard to name a few — and was the official tour DJ for Shinehead. Besides a handful of mixtapes and DVD releases of his sound clashes, he also helped assemble the 2007 release The Kings of Reggae compilation for the Rapster label plus the 2008 release Real Authentic Reggae, Vol. 1 for BBE. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi

Hailing from the leafy suburbs of Southwest London is one of the UK’s best known electronic artists. His first insight into making music came aged of 9 when his parents bought him a drum kit. He’ joined a few bands playing at venues as far as Bristol and as close as the local old people’s home. This swiftly ended at the age of 14 when he discovered his passion for dance music. Fast forward a few years later and following countless club anthems he released chart topping hits including ‘Half Light’, & the x2 platinum selling ‘Afterglow’.

FLOWDAN

Flowdan, the groundbreaking British MC who secured a historic Grammy win, stands as an iconic figure in the realm of British urban music. Over his illustrious two-decade career, this East London artist has not only left an indelible mark on the scene but has also emerged as one of the most distinctive and esteemed voices in electronic music, earning the coveted status of a certified cult figure. Flowdan’s rise to prominence began with his involvement in the garage collective Pay As U Go, and he later became a founding member of grime pioneers, Roll Deep.
